Truth time... I dislike writing profiles. You'll know by judging a photo and then the intro whether someone "clicks" with you. I do the same. It's being human!
So, I'm not going to give you a wall of clinical jargon or try to sound like a textbook - if others do that, and that works for you, awesome but I strive daily to be real; so if you're reading this, you're likely looking for a counsellor that you click with, who gets it, who won't judge you, and who can actually help you navigate whatever you're handling right now. I never promise to fix or rescue those I work with, but I do offer the healthy conditions and strategies to explore and identify a way forward.
When we work together, I bring a bit of everything to the table. I'm a qualified person-centred counsellor, CBT practitioner, Restorative Practitioner, with Focused ACT and Single-Session Therapy training. See: mettletherapy.co.uk/services-fees
If you just need a safe space to unpack things and be heard, we'll focus on that. If you're stuck in a spiral of anxiety and need practical, daily tools to cope, we'll use some low-intensity CBT strategies to get you through. See: mettletherapy.co.uk/support-resources
I also have advanced training in addiction support and crisis intervention as an ASIST Life Assisting Helper/Caregiver. I have my own lived experience and have been personally bereaved by suicide, which means I'm not afraid of the heavy stuff and will always work to keep you safe for now. We go entirely at your pace.
Outside of this private practice space, I’m out in the community a lot. Every Monday, I run a free clinic at the Salvation Army in Southport, and I partner with groups like Identity Dads and run a Dads group on their behalf in Southport. I also volunteer for the LFC Foundation to provide professional mentorships. I'm fully registered with the NCPS and ICO, so while our chats will feel down-to-earth, your safety, privacy, and confidentiality are completely locked down. See: mettletherapy.co.uk/project-sandgrounder.
You don't have to commit to anything now or in the future. We'll start with a free, 10-15-minute introductory phone call. It’s a quick chance for us to chat and see if therapy feels helpful at this point for you. Sound fair enough?
