Hello, I'm Dale. I am an integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, registered with the BACP. I work with couples and individuals face to face and online from my practice in central Eastleigh. I also work with young people from the age of 13.
As a male counsellor, I have a personal interest in promoting men's mental health, and provide support for men with issues such as anxiety, depression and loss of identity, particularly when related to careers and relationships. I also offer lived experience to individuals going through treatment, or supporting someone going through treatment, for Cancer.
Before training as a counsellor, my career was in construction, which, I feel has given me a down to earth approach to counselling, while still maintaining the professionalism required for effective therapy.
If you're looking for frank, non-judgemental support, please get in touch.
I currently hold a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, and have just finished a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. This latest qualification enables me to look at issues in greater depth with my clients, and some of the work we do may look into past experiences and relationships and generally facilitates a deeper level of reflection for the client. As a practitioner, I undertake regular ongoing training in areas that interest me, or that I feel allow me to offer a more tailored service to my clients.
Additional training I have undertaken has been in the areas of trauma, suicide and self-harm, and relationships and attachments. I am due to begin a trauma focused Level 6 qualification in September. My previous background was in construction, and I am very aware that this can be a difficult environment in which to be open about feelings. I am also aware that the levels of anxiety and depression, fuelled by short-term contracts, finances, workload and deadlines, has led to a high proportion of men that self-harm (this can be drink or drugs for example, not just cutting yourself) and attempt or complete suicide, being from a construction background.
I have seen first-hand the effect that mental ill-health can have on men, and what a lonely place this can be. If you're struggling, if you need support, please get in touch.
