Hi, I’m James — a friendly and heart-led Counsellor with a real passion for supporting people through challenges with relationships, anger, and anxiety. I know how overwhelming life can feel at times; I’ve been there myself. You don’t have to face things alone.

If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, we could start with a free 15-minute chat. There’s no expectation or pressure to take things further, just an opportunity to talk a little and see how it feels.

It can be really difficult for men to seek help - there's something unspoken in our society that suggests to us that we should be strong - and that means dealing with our challenges ourselves. Sadly this isn't often the best solution as pressure mounts, a bit like a pot on the boil, until we can't contain the pressure any longer and just explode with stress, anxiety, depression, anger and worry. It hurts us and it hurts those around us.

One day it might manifest as a feeling like we've lost ourselves and we're unsure who we are anymore. Along the way, we've struggled so hard for so long that we've simply lost sight of our direction and purpose. This can impact on the relationships with have with those closest to us. We know that something needs to change but we have no idea where to start. Counselling is a safe space to search for these answers and to develop solutions that last a lifetime.

I truly care about each and every one of my clients and offer a warm, judgement-free space where you can talk at your own pace and feel heard. Whether you're struggling with relationship breakdowns, anger, anxiety, grief, loss, trauma, low self-esteem, family problems, stress, burnout or something more personal, I’ll walk alongside you as we gently explore what’s holding you back — and uncover the answers that are already within you.

Everyone’s story is unique, and I take time to understand yours. I work with adults from all walks of life, both in-person and online. My approach is integrative, person-centred and grounded in mutual trust, kindness and acceptance. Both tears and smiles are welcome here.

I hold a Distinction in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from Lancaster University and am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and a member of the BACP. I work ethically, attend regular supervision, and am fully insured.

🗓 I offer a free initial phone chat and a reduced-fee first session so you can get a feel for how we might work together.

In this first session we meet as two people, face to face, just to explore a little of how it feels to sit together, gently exploring what's got you stuck and really sitting with how this feels for you. As the founder of Person Centered Therapy, Carl Rogers once said "When someone really hears you without passing judgment on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mold you, it feels damn good."

📍 In-person sessions available in Halifax, Bingley and Bradford (typically within 15–20 mins drive if you're local). Online sessions also offered via secure video call if you prefer the comfort of your own environment.

If you feel like we might be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you.

With warmth,

James
