Hello my name is Joe I’m an online counsellor specialising in supporting people struggling with compulsive behaviours, addiction, and patterns that feel difficult to control. Whether it's with substances, alcohol, pornography, overwork, or other patterns that feel beyond your control. These behaviours often develop as a way of coping with stress, numbness, or emotional pain, even if they end up causing more harm than relief.
My approach is person-centred and trauma informed integrating both professional training and lived experience. I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space. Here, you can openly explore what's happening and initiate the journey of change.
I understand that looking through profiles can feel overwhelming—and that it takes courage to reach out. I’ll meet you with respect, openness, and curiosity. You’re welcome to go at your own pace, and while we can set goals together, they’re never set in stone. If any of this resonates with you, I’d be very happy to offer an initial conversation so you can see whether working together feels right.
I have two years' experience in two recovery centres and two colleges. I currently offer counselling to Red Rose Recovery Lancaster, students at Kendal College and support doctors via Physicians Anonymous. You can find my profile here: https://physiciansanonymous.org/coaches-and-mentors/

Alongside my counselling work, I bring a broad professional background shaped by both mental health and education. Before training as a teacher, I worked as a mental health worker, supporting a diverse range of individuals with mental health difficulties and learning needs. I later gained extensive teaching experience in the UK and abroad, spending several years living and working in Italy.
These experiences continue to inform my therapeutic approach, helping me to offer grounded, compassionate support that recognises the complexity of each person’s life, history, and circumstances.
I have practised mindfulness for over thirty years and hold a deep interest in how spirituality can support recovery and emotional wellbeing.
I offer online person-centred, trauma-informed counselling for men struggling with addiction, compulsive behaviours, and related issues—helping you explore underlying patterns and move toward meaningful change.
In addition to addiction, I support men facing a range of challenges such as anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, grief and major life transitions. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to offer a supportive, non-judgemental space.
