Hello! I'm Louise, a counsellor based in the centre of Northampton, working face-to-face and online.
Deciding to start counselling can feel daunting, especially if you've never done it before. You may be unsure what counselling really is, or how it can help.
I've been in private practice for 16 years, and in that time I've worked with men on a short-term or longer-term basis. Men come to my counselling with all sorts of things, from depression, anxiety and relationship problems, to bereavement and big changes like redundancy or retirement.
I believe that at our deepest level, each of us has the desire and ability to fulfil our own potential, and that you're the expert on your own life. You'll know the best way forward for you, even if it's difficult to see at the moment. Counselling can help you understand yourself more fully, using your own inner resources, and build the self-awareness and confidence to make positive changes in your life.
My therapy room is pleasant and peaceful, in a quiet spot in Northampton town centre. My approach is psychodynamic and integrative, tailored to each person, and it can help to restore a sense of wholeness and wellbeing. Where it's appropriate, I can also use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) to work with trauma and anxiety.
I've also worked extensively with all forms of domestic abuse, including running a counselling service for a women's refuge.
I'm an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), trained in EMDR, and a BUPA Recognised Mental Health Professional. You'll find my full training and experience further down this page.
If you'd like to find out more, I offer a free 15-minute phone call with no commitment. I can tell you more about the therapies I offer and how they could support you, and you can see whether we're a good fit. Just send me a message through this page.
