Are you struggling with anxiety and stress? Stuck inside your own head? Do coping strategies seem to do more harm than good? Do you feel depressed, isolated and lonely. If any of those statements feel true for you, I might be able to help.
I am a person centred counsellor which means my focus is on your experience and how you see the world. You are the window through which we can look at your mental health. I am not here to tell you what to do, fix you or give you advice.
I can create a safe environment for you to explore issues that might feel difficult to talk about anywhere else. Everything you say is confidential, there is no judgement and hopefully over time you can grow to trust the space.
I have experience working with addiction, rehabs and 12 step recovery. If you are worried about your drinking or other behaviours I can help you begin to understand what might be beneath it. Using alcohol or drugs is often a coping mechanism for something else.
I am interested in neurodiversity and the different experiences people have. Not all minds are the same, and understanding difference can be really helpful and powerful.
I believe relationships define what it means to be in the world and to be human. But relationships are difficult and often a key source of suffering and poor mental health. I can help you see how your relationships work (or not) and how you might think about changing them.
I work online or in person. I can see clients in person in Thame or Oxford and the surrounding area. Online I can see you wherever you live.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) registration number 417391.
I am a registered member of the NCPS (National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society) membership number NCPS2343.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Cumbria.
I have a Certificate in Humanistic Counselling Skills from the Gestalt Centre in London.
I studied Physics and Industrial Design Engineering as a student. I have worked in design consulting for many years and understand what it is like to work in a business and corporate environment. I know how mental health can have an impact in the workplace. I bring a visual way of thinking from design which can be useful when thinking about mental health.
I can help people understand and deal with addiction. I have experience working with alcohol, drug dependency and addictive behaviours (like gambling).
I can help people suffering from anxiety and stress. I can help with over thinking, intrusive thoughts, panic attacks and obsessive behaviours. I am familiar with how neurodiversity (e.g. ADHD) can play a role.
I can help with depression by looking at the causes of low self esteem and the role of childhood experiences. I can help with managing fear and the tendency to catastrophise. I can help with suicidal thoughts, feeling hopeless and loneliness.
I can help with relationships. Relationships can be romantic, friendships, work or family. Often they are a big factor in mental health. I can help people become aware of people pleasing, compulsive helping, boundaries and getting a better sense of what they need and want from a relationship.
