Are you a man struggling with anxiety and stress? Do you feel like you are trapped inside your head? Do you feel depressed, isolated and lonely? If any of those statements feel true for you, I might be able to help.
I am a person centred counsellor which means my focus is on your experience and how you see the world. I can create a safe environment for you to explore issues that might feel difficult to talk about anywhere else.
Over thinking or intrusive thoughts can cause a lot of suffering and sometimes there is a link with neurodiversity (e.g. ADHD or ASD) but not always. Often being stuck in your head is a defence against difficult feelings. I can help with unhelpful thought patterns and find a healthier balance with emotions. Because men sometimes find it hard to talk about feelings, this can lead to feeling depressed, lonely or low self worth. I can provide a safe space to gently explore these issues.
I work with men on issues in romantic relationships or families. Relationships are difficult and often a source of suffering and poor mental health. I can help you see how your relationships work and how you might change them. I do this by helping you see how you communicate and how you can use boundaries to meet your needs.
Using substances or behaviours is often a coping mechanism for difficult feelings, depression or anxiety. I have experience working with addiction, if you are worried about your drinking or other behaviours I can help you begin to understand what might lie beneath it.
I can help with any of these topics:
- anxiety and stress
- depression and loneliness
- alcohol and drugs
- gambling or work addiction
- pornography and online sex
- romantic relationships, marriages, divorce and families
- over thinking, obsessions and intrusive thoughts
- panic attacks and suicidal thoughts
- sexual problems
